The Best Bike News Story(ies) This Week
More evidence that 2013 may be the year of the bike: Bikes are on prominent display at the Detroit Auto Show. According to the Christian Science Monitor article, “Pedaling to the Top: How Bicycles Stormed the Detroit Auto Show” as much as the cars are drawing the eye of the visitor, so are the bikes. The article goes on to explain the presence of the bicycles at a usually car-centric event.

The Christian Science Monitor also has a great slide show of “The Things We Do with Bikes“, everything from carrying pets and everyday transportation, to stunts we humans like to try on bikes (I don’t necessarily recommend this, however.)
An inspiring bike story from around the web is that the LSSI AmeriCorps (in Illinois) volunteers are collecting bikes to refurbish and donate them to families in need of bicycles. If you live near Herrin, IL and have an extra bike, they’re having a bike drive on Monday, Jan. 21st from 9am to noon.
