Thanksgiving Day Bike Rides
Happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully, everyone is enjoying family, friends, and food. Today I’ll be running around volunteering and spending time with friends. If I happen to catch a football game, that will just be the icing on the cake.
I don’t anticipate being able to squeeze in a bike ride on such a gorgeous day – sad, I know – but, if you’re lucky enough to have some free time for a bike ride, here are a few Thanksgiving Day rides around the nation:
- Sacramento’s Appetite Enhancement Thanksgiving Day Bike Ride. The ride begins at 9:00am at the California Auto Museum. I might be able to make this ride next year.
- NYC’s Pilgrim Pedal. The 10- to 12-mile ride starts at 8:00am at 23rd Street and the East River. I believe there is a $15 fee to register.
- Chicago area Elmhurst Bike Club Ride. They have a few hike and bike events scheduled.
- Los Angeles Wheelmen Thanksgiving Day Ride. They have 2 or 3 rides to choose from depending on your abilities and who you bring with you (ie. children) but all meet at the corner of Olympic Blvd. one block west of La Cienega.
- San Fernando Valley bike ride. If you’d like to schedule a whole-day biking adventure, bike from the NoHo train station to Chinatown, eat lunch, return back on the Metro and watch a movie.
- More Southern California Rides.
- Atlanta Cycling events. Winter paced 22 to 35 miles ride begins at 10am.
- Fort Collins, Colorado. Two rides to choose from – one longer the other shorter both meeting at 10am at the South Lee’s Parking Lot.
Okay, there are many more rides to list, but I tried to cover east, west, mid-west and south US. Hopefully some of you will be able to make a ride on this fine turkey day!

Thanks Jennifer, great resource. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all our readers at Bike Lane Living.
