I love my back rack and wire basket on the back of my bike, but lately it hasn’t been large enough to hold all my stuff. I’ve been thinking a front, removable bag might be a great addition to carrying my lunch, books, or purse. Durability and sustainability are both important to me, which is why the United by Blue Organic bike bags might be a good option.
Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, United by Blue offers a few varieties of sustainable bike bags; pannier, handlebar, and a small pouch for a phone, keys, or small items (I’m thinking garage clicker!) They attach to handlebars or a back rack and fender using leather straps with brass studs. The 100% organic waxed canvas makes their items water-resistant and the interior liner has a drawstring cord to cinch your items in place.
United by Blue sells a variety of organic bags, wallets, and totes including traditional messenger and laptop bags on their website, UnitedbyBlue.com. Their bike bags will be available for sale early this year. I’ll be checking back soon for updates.
Also, if you want to get involved in a local cleanup, United by Blue has one coming up in Philadelphia in March. A company that truly is committed to sustainability.
